Pros of the Link Building:

1. Increases traffic engagement:

It is the most prominent step for the growth of any website. And link building helps in achieving growth of traffic engagement on a particular site. It also makes the web pages of the website more visible and approachable. And the best part is that if used effectively, then it can do miracles on your website and would be able to bring much more traffic than any of your page or website could do.

2. The best option for creating awareness and credibility:

It does increases the credibility factor of your website. Such as supposing The Wall Street Journal sending a link to your page regarding any awareness or campaign. So, doesn’t this raise credibility? It would boost our credibility entirely beyond our expectations. This step in which you get high-quality pages to send links makes your website look more credible and reliable.

3. It provides a better rank in search:

It sounds tempting to most of the people who want their website to rank higher in the google search. And as Google has always pointed out on its website that, “webmasters can improve the rank of their sites by increasing the number of high-quality sites that link to their pages.” It means that when there are a lot of pages that promote the same content, then it is one of the factors to which Google considers before deciding about the search engine ranking and ‘link popularity.’ It clarifies to improve position in the search engine results pages (SERPs), it is imperative to try & implement the link building.

4. Effective link building helps to bring potential traffic:

Here, the term ‘quality traffic’ refers to the people who are keenly interested in the types of services or products that you provide. For example, if a particular web page on ‘Advantages of solar water heaters’ sends you a link to your business website offering the relationship such as ‘solar water heater installation and service’ then there are chances that you will get more potential and genuine customers that are interested in your service and products.

Cons of the Link Building:

1. It is a time-consuming process:

It is a time-consuming process that can be accomplished by the experts only. So, it is termed as the hardest jobs of SEO as increasing your page rank via link building takes a lot of time because obtaining one or two inbound links does not make much difference. So either you have to work even in your busy schedules, or else you will need a wholly dedicated webmaster or SEO professional who can engage in this process of link building for the website.

2. Related or reciprocal links can reduce your traffic engagement:

By providing such reciprocal and associated links, you can also give a chance to another relevant site which will reduce the involvement of traffic on your website. So, what happens if they find other websites to be more interesting, useful, and attractive?

3. Poor pages with inbound links can affect your ranking adversely:

As we know that Google is no fool, so have no right to create few pages with the purpose of link building and then expect Google to rank you higher in search. Instead, Google will provide you with a rank that is lower than what you could achieve without having a single link in the blog. As Google hates the black-hats.

4. If misuse of link building, you can be penalized or eliminated from google:

During many situations in which people have misused the process of link building, then it got the name ‘black-hat.’ Such types of practices include link farms, doorway pages, cloaking, hidden content, and so much more. Another tradition of ‘Link-farming’ is referred to a large number of websites and links with the sole purpose to increase the number of links to new sites. But, such sites with links cannot be trusted, and it just helped in earning some rank in google search. But, it couldn’t last, and Google caught them cheating, so it prohibits this type of behavior, and if found guilty, then you have to say goodbye to Google for a long time.

5. Overdoing link building can be a punishable offense:

Link Building must be done in a limit. And a few years ago, it became a practice for most companies to use Link building and get links from other websites with little or almost no connection with their services and products. So, Google disliked it, and now anyone caught doing such practice would be termed as a spammer, and doing it repeatedly, can result in severe punishment.

Conclusion:

Any webmaster must try this technique of Link Building as it provides tons of benefits with negligible or no expense at all. Also, it is a fact that a good reputation, ranking, and genuine traffic comes only with quality content and time. So do not expect short-term gains in the process of link building. Instead, take it as a long-term investment that will slowly and gradually help in developing quality content for your website or web page, and the other people and sites are just forced to talk about it. With proper time and patience, it is one of the most effective and efficient ways of promotion in the business world.
